V mé práci se zabývám rolí náhradnich matek v knihách afroamerické autorky Glorie Naylorové. Jejich role má původ v africké kultuře, která byla přenesena do afroamerické společnosti díky otroctví. Jednou z hlavních rolí náhradních matek je role léčitelská.

My thesis concerns African American author Gloria Naylor and her three novels. I examine Naylor's three female protagonists and their roles they have in their community- the role of othermothers.These roles have their origins in the African culture and society.
