Reading comprehension of pupils with dyslexia in comparison with intact pupils from the second to the fifth grade of elementary school

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na problematiku čtení s porozuměním u žáků s dyslexií ve srovnání s žáky intaktními. Hlavním cílem předkládané práce je zjistit, zda žáci s dyslektickými obtížemi mají při čtení s porozuměním výraznější problémy než žáci intaktní. V teoretické části je nahlédnuto do historie a současnosti metodiky čtení a psaní s uvedením některých metod využívaných při výuce počátečního čtení. V další části je charakterizována problematika specifických poruch učení se zaměřením na dyslexii. Podrobněji jsou popsány příčiny, projevy a možné nápravy specifických poruch učení, především dyslexie. Značná pozornost je věnována analýze problematických jevů objevujících se při čtení u žáků s dyslexií. V praktické části je popsána metodologie výzkumu, jeho průběh a výsledky. Primárním cílem této části je zjištění úrovně čtení s porozuměním a porovnání dosažených výsledků u žáků s dyslexií s výsledky žáků intaktních ve 2. až 5. ročníku základní školy. V kvantitativním výzkumu je využito metody práce s textem s různými druhy testových položek a metody dotazníku. Zjištěné skutečnosti jsou přehledně zpracovány v tabulkách a grafech. V závěru diplomové práce jsou uvedena doporučení pro další pedagogický výzkum a doporučení pro praxi.

Abstract:

The thesis is focused on the problems of reading comprehension among pupils with dyslexia compared to intact pupils. The main aim of the presented work is to determine whether the pupils with dyslexic difficulties have more significant problems by reading comprehension than the intact ones. The theoretical part gives insight into the history and present of reading and writing methodology stating some methods used in teaching of initial reading. In the next part is the problematics of specific learning disabilities focused on dyslexia characterized. In great detail are described causes, symptoms and possible improvement of specific learning disabilities, especially of dyslexia. Considerable attention is paid to the analysis of problematic phenomenon appearing by reading among pupils with dyslexia. In practical part is described the research methodology, its process and results. The primary aim of this part is to find out the reading comprehension level and comparing the achieved results among pupils with dyslexia to results of intact pupils in the 2nd and 5th class of elementary school. In quantitative research is used method of working with text in different types of test items and the questionnare method. Determined facts are clearly organized in charts and graphs. In conclusion of this thesis are given recommendations for further educational research and recommendations for the practice.
