The traditional Scottish dress in history and present day society
Abstract:
This bachelor thesis describes the traditional Scottish clothing, its various components and their historical evolvement. Furthermore, the thesis analyses some of the related historical events, such as the ban on kilts in 1746. The last two chapters provide a view on tartan as a material, and the significance of tartans and kilts in the modern society.
Abstract:
Cílem této bakalářské práce je popsat jednotlivé prvky skotského historického oděvu a jejich vývoj v průběhu staletí. Práce se dále věnuje souvisejícím historickým událostem, jako je například zákaz nošení kiltů v roce 1746. V posledních dvou kapitolách je popsán tartan jako materiál a pohled na význam tartanů a kiltů v moderní společnosti.
