Medieval firearms in archaeological situations in Bohemia

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na širší problematiku středověkých palných zbraní a jejich nálezů v rámci archeologických situací a dokladů jejich použití v různých souvislostech. Klíčovou součástí práce je katalog nálezů palných zbraní a jejich fragmentů z archeologických situací z území Čech. Hlavní pozornost je pak zaměřena na nálezy a situace z prostředí opevněných lokalit, konfliktních areálů, ale také sídelních aglomerací různého řádu, které se nezřídka staly v průběhu středověku součástí konfliktních areálů. V rámci práce byly vytvořeny případové studie zaměřené na použití palných zbraní na našem území, které vychází z archeologických a historických pramenů.

Abstract:

The thesis focuses on the broader issue of medieval firearms and their finds in archaeological situations and evidence for their use in different contexts. The main part of the thesis is a catalogue of finds of firearms and their fragments from archaeological situations in Bohemia. The focus is then on finds and situations from fortified sites, conflict areas, and settlements of various orders, which often became part of conflict areas in the Middle Ages. Case studies have been prepared on the use of firearms in our territory, based on archaeological and historical sources.
