The Phenomenon of Pilgrimage in Sunni Islam

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je představit fenomén pouti v sunnitském islámu. V úvodu se snažím nahlédnout na fenomén pouti s ohledem na tři monoteistická náboženství. Prostor je zde také věnován problematice posvátného a profánního v pojetí islámu. Ve druhé části je stručně nastíněna historie předislámské Arábie a zabývám se zde také otázkou návaznosti pouti na předislámský kult, islamizováním zvyku každoroční pouti do Mekky a také se pokouším objasnit symboliku jednotlivých rituálů v Koránu a islámské tradici, sunně. V následné kapitole je hlavním úkolem nahlédnout na pouť, respektive pouť do Mekky, jako na rituál přechodu (rite de passage). Dále je zde zmíněna struktura hadždže a jeho jednotlivá stádia. Poslední část je věnována tradici zijáry, tedy návštěvě posvátných míst. Ve své bakalářské práci jsem se snažila naskytnout ucelenější a doufám, že v mnohém snad pro čtenáře přínosný pohled na problematiku fenoménu pouti v sunnitském islámu.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to introduce the phenomenon of pilgrimage in Sunni Islam. The beginning I try to analyse phenomenon pilgrimage with regard to the three monotheistic religions. There is also paid attention to the issue of the sacred and profane concept of Islam. The second part of this thesis briefly describes the history of the pre-Islamic Arabia, the issue of the continuity with the pre-Islamic cult, islamized habit of an annual pilgrimage to Mecca and I also try to clarify symbolism of the rituals in the Koran and Islamic tradition, the Sunnah. In the next part there the main task is to show the pilgrimage as a rite of passage (rite de passage). There is also mentioned a structure of the hajj and its various stages. The last part is exploring of tradition the zijarah, i.e. visiting holy places. In this thesis I try to offer readers more comprehensive and I hope a usefull view of the phenomenon of pilgrimage in Sunni Islam.
