Rainer Maria Rilke and Ellen Key. Contribution to the "new" Religiosity around 1900

Abstract:

At the beginning of the 20th century Ellen Key described a new religious persuasion in her essays in which she prefered the faith in life and accepted only earthy worths.The new religiosity refused the fear of death and concentrating on posthumous life. Key called the German poet Rainer Maria Rilke the psalmist of this new religiosity. This bachelor thesis endeavours to put well the main traits of the faith in life and tries to find the traits of the faith in life in Rilke´s work. The faith in life and especially Rilke´s personality and work attracted a lot of admirers who began to consider Rilke to be a clerical leader. This thesis devotes a special chapter to Rilke´s popularity because his „cult“ from the beginning of the 20th century was replaced by a big disillusionment. A special place of the thesis is devoted to the Czech reception of Rainer M. Rilke, especially by Czech germanist Messer, publisher Florián, literature scientist Preisner and poet Vokolek.

Abstract:

Na začátku 20. století popsala Ellen Key ve své knize esejí nové religiozní smýšlení, které na první místo staví víru v život a vezdejší hodnoty jako jediné platné. Odmítá strach ze smrti a upínání se na posmrtný život. Key označila jako jednoho ze „žalmistů“ této nové religiozity německého básníka Rainera Maria Rilkeho. Tato bakalářská práce se snaží o postihnutí hlavních znaků víry v život a pokouší se najít znaky víry v život v Rilkově díle. Víra v život a hlavně Rilkova osobnost a dílo přilákalo velké množství obdivovatelů, jenž začali pokládat Rilka téměř za duchovního vůdce. Tato práce věnuje zvláštní kapitolu Rilkově oblíbenosti, protože jeho „kult“ ze začátku století byl v Německu vystřídán velkým vystřízlivěním. Zvláštní místo je v této práci věnováno české recepci Rainera M. Rilkeho, především rilkovský ohlas u českého germanisty Messera, vydavatele Floriána, literárního vědce Preisnera a básníka Vokolka.
