The importance and need for foreign languages in terms of practical experience in the hotel industry

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá významem cizích jazyků v hotelnictví, specializuje se především na jazykové vybavenosti personálu. Hlavním cílem je analýza kvality a kvantity jazykových dovedností zaměstnanců, kteří jsou v přímém styku s hosty ve vybraných 3, 4 a 5 hvězdičkových hotelech.Jedním z dílčích cílů je zjistit, zda zaměstnavatelé nějakým způsobem podporují výuku cizích jazyků u zaměstnanců. Dalším cílem bylo pochopit, jaké jsou nejrozšířenější důvody pro studium cizích jazyků. Práce se skládá ze tří částí – teoretické, praktické a návrhové. Teoretická část obsahuje obecný pohled na historii a současné trendy v hotelnictví, také vymezuje základní poznatky o jazycích. Praktická část se zabývá výzkumem stanoveného cíle, který byl proveden pomocí dotazníkového šetření a následnou komparací získaných dat. Třetí, návrhová část, se věnuje možnostem zlepšení rozvoje hotelnictví, prostřednictvím zlepšení jazykové výbavy personálu. Výsledky a závěry jsou zpracovány v závěru praktické části bakalářské práce.

Abstract:

This Bachelor`s Dissertation is concerned about the importance of foreign languages in the hotel industry, specializes mainly on the language skills of staff. The main objective of this dissertation is to analyze the quality and quantity of language skills of employees, who are in direct contact with guests in the selected 3, 4 and 5 star hotels. One of the objectives is to establish whether employers are somehow supporting to employees with learning of foreign languages. Another objective is to understand what reasons are the most important for studying foreign languages. The work is divided into three parts: theoretical, practical and proposal part. The theoretical part contains general view of the history and current trends in the hotel industry, also defines the basic knowledge of language. The practical part deals with research stated objectives, which is conducted through a questionnaire survey and subsequent comparison of the data. The third part is dedicated to improving the possibilities for development of the hotel industry, by improving the language skills of staff. The results and conclusions are processed at the end of the practical part.
