The use of a service dog within the Customs Administration of the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se v teoretické části věnuje historickým začátkům kynologie, historii služební kynologie u Celní správy České republiky a její právní úpravě. Následně je definována Celní správa České republiky a její kompetence. Závěrečná práce je zaměřena na výcvikové zařízení služební kynologie v Heřmanicích a metodiku výcviku psů. Praktickou část tvoří kvalitativní výzkum, který je uskutečněn pomocí polostrukturovaných rozhovorů, které mají za cíl ověřit, zda je výcvik služebních psů v Heřmanicích dostačující pro výkon služby u Celní správy České republiky, jsou-li psi ve službě spolehlivější (výkonnější) než feny, je-li k výcviku služebních psů dostatek výcvikového materiálu a jsou-li psi ihned po výcviku v Heřmanicích připraveni nastoupit do praxe. Po provedených rozhovorech byla navrhnuta opatření.

Abstract:

In its theoretical part, this bachelor thesis is devoted to the historical beginnings of cynology, the history of service cynology within the Customs Administration of the Czech Republic and its legal regulation. Later, the Customs Administration of the Czech Republic and its competences are defined. The final part of this thesis is focused on the Service Cynology Training Facility in Heřmanice and the dog training methodology. The practical part consists of qualitative research, carried out using semi-structured interviews, with the aim of verifying whether the training of service dogs in Heřmanice is sufficient for the performance of their service at the Customs Administration of the Czech Republic, if service dogs are more reliable (more efficient) than service bitches, if there is enough training material for training service dogs and if the dogs are ready to go into service immediately after completing their training in Heřmanice. After carrying out the afore-mentioned interviews, measures have been suggested.
