Competitiveness of the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá konkurenceschopností České republiky a jejím jednotlivým částem. V teoretické části bakalářské práce je pojem konkurenceschopnost vysvětlen a zároveň jsou popsány způsoby jejího hodnocení a měření. Vysvětlen je způsob, jakým organizace Světové ekonomické fórum hodnotí konkurenceschopnost států ve vydávaném dokumentu zvaném The Global Competitiveness Report, a jsou uvedeny jednotlivé pilíře tohoto hodnocení. V praktické části jsou výsledky hodnocení konkurenceschopnosti popsány jak z hlediska kvantitativních ukazatelů, tak také kvalitativních. V dalších částech této práce je zmíněno postavení České republiky v žebříčku konkurenceschopnosti, který je vydávaný organizací Světové ekonomické fórum, zároveň je konkurenceschopnost České republiky porovnána s jinými evropskými státy. Pozornost je také věnována aktuální situaci ČR, odhalení nejslabších míst z hlediska konkurenceschopnosti, dokumentům a příležitostem, které mají za cíl konkurenceschopnost České republiky zvýšit. Cílem této práce je pochopení pojmu konkurenceschopnosti státu a celková analýza konkurenceschopnosti České republiky.

Abstract:

The Thesis concentrates on competitiveness of the Czech Republic and its particular parts. The term competitiveness itself is scrutinized in the theoretical part along with the techniques of competitiveness measuring and rating. It is also illustrated how the organization, called World Economic Forum, measures the competitiveness of every state, issued in The Global Competitiveness Report document, and how this institution divides competitiveness into several indicators. The results of both quantitative and qualitative indicators are presented in the practical part. The competitiveness of the Czech Republic and its comparison with other European countries are depicted in further sections of the paper. A fundamental attention is paid to the current situation of the Czech Republics competitiveness as the weaknesses are identified and the opportunities for improving its international competitive position are stated. The main goal of this Thesis is the proper understanding of the term competitiveness and an overall analysis of the Czech Republics competitiveness.
