Income tax treatment of cryptocurrencies

Abstract:

Cílem práce je aplikovat daňovou legislativu v oblasti daně z příjmu na kryptoměny a kryptoměnové transakce. V práci jsou dále vysvětleny základní pojmy a princip fungování největší kryptoměny – bitcoinu. Dále je vysvětlen ekonomický přesah kryptoměn a jejich zasazení do aktuálně platné legislativy. Většina obsahu se zabývá oblastí zdanění příjmu fyzických osob. Součástí práce je zpracování problematiky tokenizovaných cenných papírů a oceňování kryptoměn při spreadech. Poslední část práce je věnována oblasti zdanění příjmů právnických osob a související problematice účetnictví.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to apply income tax legislation to cryptocurrencies and cryptocurrency transactions. The thesis further explains basic concepts and the principle of operation of the largest cryptocurrency - bitcoin. Furthermore, the economic overlap of cryptocurrencies and their embedding into the currently applicable legislation is explained. Most of the content deals with the area of personal income taxation. The thesis includes the treatment of the issue of tokenized securities and the valuation of cryptocurrencies in spreads. The last part of the thesis is devoted to the area of corporate income taxation and related accounting issues.
