Voice and Personality

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá vztahem hlasu a osobnosti. Je prezentováno dosavadní výzkumné úsilí v oblasti, stejně jako výsledky v oblasti s analogickou problematikou vztahu sociálně relevantní informace a tváře a identifikace na základě hlasu. Je nastíněn hypoteticko-teoretický rámec percepce osobnostní informace z prozódie řeči, založený na spekulativním shrnutí relevantních experimentálních výsledků. Výstupem je hypotéza úzkého vztahu kognitivních mechanismů hlasové identifikace s inferencí osobnostní informace. Tedy, že podobný hlas podobného ducha značí. Byly korelovány vybrané akustické proměnné hlasových vzorků úzce vztažené k percepci témbru s výsledky baterie osobnostních testů. Byla nalezena řada středně a nepříliš silných vazeb mezi proměnnými hlasu a osobnosti. Z akustických proměnných vynikaly variabilita f5, disperze mezi f1 a f0, spektrální svah a variabilita intenzity. Je popsán jev individualizovaného subjektivního vjemu rozdílu výšky hlasu na nahrávce a sebeposlechem.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the relationship between voice and personality. State of the art research effort in the field is presented as well as research effort in analogue fields of social cognition and face, and identity inference from voice. Hypothetical-teoretical framework of personality information perception on the basis of speech prosody grounded in speculative summary of relevant experimental results is outlined, resulting in hypothesis of close relation of cognitive mechanism of voice identification to personality information inference. Timber related acoustical variables and personality variables were corraleted. Number of intermediate and weak but statisticaly significant variable relationships were found. F5 variability, dispersion between f1 and f0, spectral slope, and intensity variability were identified with the closest linkeage to personality. Phenomenon of individualized own voice perception contrast between the recording and self-hearing is presented.
