This bachelor thesis deals with the female heroine in the selected fantasy novellas by Théophil Gautier and Guy de Maupassant. Based on the theoretical background of the genre, the study tries to compare and contrast the types of female protagonists in the selected novellas and to discuss the role of their appearances. Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá ženskou hrdinkou ve vybraných fantastických novelách u Théophila Gautiera a Guy de Maupassanta. Studie se na základě teoretických poznatků o tomto žánru snaží nejprve porovnat, jaký typ postavy představuje žena v našem souboru novel, jakou roli zde hraje její vzhled, a následně se snaží odpovědět na otázku, za jakým účelem je ženská postava do díla umístěna.
