This thesis contains an annotated translation of the modern novel Un anno per un giorno by Massimo Bisotti from Italian into Czech. After briefly introducing the author and the main topics of the book and providing a short description of the translation process, this thesis deals with the issues and difficulties which arise from the existing differences between the two languages.
