Trends in Sustainability Management and Reporting: Case Study in Banking Sector

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je prozkoumat management a reporting udržitelnosti vybrané banky působící v České republice. Práce zkoumá faktory ovlivňující změnu managementu udržitelnosti a vliv evropských regulací na tuto změnu. Výzkum je kvalitativní metoda případové studie. Praktická část vychází z dostupných dat o zkoumané společnosti a šesti polostrukturovaných rozhovorů se zaměstnanci firmy na různých úrovních managementu. Analýza dat je provedena metodou tematické analýzy za použití kódování dat. Výzkum nepotvrdil, že by nové evropské regulace ovlivňovaly změnu managementu udržitelnosti ve firmě. Na změnu managementu mají vliv jiné motivy, a to zejména zúčastněné strany, změna leadershipu a transformace celé firmy. Evropské regulace ovlivňují procesy a činnosti v oblasti udržitelného podnikání. Mají dopad zejména na podobu nefinančního reportu nebo na proces sběru dat o klientech, nikoli na celkový management udržitelnosti.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor’s thesis is to explore sustainability management and reporting of selected bank operating in the Czech Republic. The paper examines the factors influencing the change of sustainability management and the influence of European regulations on this change. The research is a qualitative method of case study. The practical part is based on available data about studied company and six semi-structured interviews with company employees at various levels of management. Thematic analysis using data coding is used for data analysis. The research did not confirm the influence of European regulations on the change of sustainability management. The change is influenced by different motives, especially stakeholders, the change of leadership and the transformation of the whole company. The European regulations affect processes and operations in sustainable business. They impact mainly the form of non-financial report or the process of client data collecting, they do not impact overall sustainability management.
