Visual and prose literacy in art teaching

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá souvislostmi mezi textovým a vizuálním zobrazením a způsoby jejich implementace do výtvarné výchovy. Teoretická část se nejprve věnuje provázanosti textu a vizuálu obecně a následně se věnuje deskripci souvislostí motivů a témat vizuální a textové tvorby v díle konkrétního umělce, Josefa Čapka, v letech 1923-1930. V praktické části se práce zabývá uplatněním literárního díla při výuce výtvarné výchovy, a to proto, že je to velmi žádoucí z hlediska vytváření mezioborových souvislostí. Součástí praktické části je výzkumná sonda, která zjišťuje, na jaké úrovni je vizuální a čtenářská gramotnost žáků středních škol. Stěžejní část práce tvoří návrh metodiky, která se soustředí na rozvoj vizuální a čtenářské gramotnosti a jejich využití ve výtvarné výchově, a následně na rozvoj schopnosti hledat souvislosti mezi verbálním a vizuálním zobrazením. Žáci se učí interpretovat text pomocí výtvarné tvorby na základě kompetence chápání textové formy a kompetence transferu mezi vizuálem a textem.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the connections between text and visual display and the means of their implementation in to art education. The theoretical part firstly pursues the interconnection of text and visual in general, and secondly describes connections of motifs and themes of the visual and prose work of Josef Čapek in the years from 1923 to 1930. The practical part studies the application of literary work in art teaching, because creating interdisciplinary connections is desirable. It also contains a research probe which analyses the level of visual and prose literacy of high school students. A crucial part of this work is the methodics design, which concentrates on developing visual and prose literacy and their use in the teaching of art, and on improving the ability to find connections between verbal and visual display. Students learn how to interpret the text with the use of art work based on their competence to understand the text form and the competence of transfer between visual and text.
