The comparison of the rate of the transformation of the armed forces of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania to the standards of the NATO member countries

Abstract:

Abstract The present bachelor thesis discusses the transformation of the armed forces of three Baltic countries, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, and is aimed at the comparison of the rate of this transformation, when researched armed forces have transformed from the armed forces of three former Soviet republics to the armed forces of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization member countries. Firstly, the bachelor thesis brings the brief view of the birth of researched armed forces from newly established countries, and focuses also on the topic of the challenges and complications the armed forces of the Baltic countries had to face. Secondly, it is aimed also at the overview of the current capacities and capabilities of the researched armed forces, with the emphasis on the equipment of the armed forces. The key part of this bachelor thesis is the comparison, created while using all of the information mentionned above.

Abstract:

Predkladaná bakalárska práca sa zaoberá transformáciou ozbrojených síl troch baltských štátov, Estónska, Lotyšska a Litvy, a následnou komparáciou rýchlosti tejto transformácie ozbrojených síl pôvodne zväzových sovietskych republík na ozbrojené sily členských štátov Severoatlantickej aliancie. Práca prináša stručný prehľad vzniku ozbrojených síl novovzniknutých štátov Estónska, Lotyšska a Litvy, a komplikácií a výziev, ktoré pred nimi stáli pred vstupom do Severoatlantickej aliancie, a následne prehľad súčasného stavu jednotlivých ozbrojených síl so zameraním sa na výzbroj týchto síl. Kľúčovou časťou celej práce je komparácia vypracovaná s využitím vyššie uvedených informácií.
