Financial Literacy from the Perspective of Students, Teachers and Social Workers

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá postojem žáků 9. tříd, jejich učitelů, a sociálních pracovníků k finanční gramotnosti a její výuce na základních školách. Popisuje vývoj ustanovení povinnosti vyučovat finanční gramotnost a nakonec samotnou implementaci finančního vzdělávání na základních školách. Dále se zabývá rolí sociální práce v rámci finančního vzdělávání. V rámci výzkumu je finanční gramotnost a její výuka konfrontována s postoji vybraných skupin respondentů z pohledu třídimenzionálního modelu zahrnujícího tři složky – kognitivní, emocionální a behaviorální. Výzkum je založený na kvalitativní strategii a realizovaný formou 7 individuálních a 6 skupinových polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s celkem 23 respondentů v 6 zařízeních (2x základní škola, 4x sociální poradna). Rozhovory byly převedeny do písemné podoby formou přesného přepisu a následně zpracovány pomocí zakotvené teorie a interpretovány prostřednictvím otevřeného a axiálního kódování. Interpretace následuje strukturu konceptu postoje a uvádí, jakým způsobem žáci 9. tříd, jejich učitelé v dané škole vyučující finanční gramotnost a sociální pracovníci zabývající se dluhovou problematikou vnímají, prožívají a uplatňují přístup k finanční gramotnosti a její výuky v dnešní době. V závěru čtenář najde odpověď na hlavní výzkumnou otázku a návrhy doporučení pro další výzkum a praxi.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the attitude of 9th graders, their teachers and social workers for financial literacy and the education of it at the primary schools. It describes a development of the obligation to teach financial literacy, and finally the actual implementation of financial education in primary schools. It also deals with the role of social work in financial education. The research confronted financial literacy and education of it with the attitudes of select groups of respondents in terms of three-dimensional model comprising three components – the cognitive, emotional and bahavioral. The research is based on qualitative strategy and implemented in the form of 7 individual and 6 group interviews with a total of 23 respondents in 6 organizations (2 primary schools, 4 social counseling). Interviews were converted into written form through accurate transcription and analyzed using grounded theory and interpreted through open and axial coding. Interpretation follows the structure of the concept of attitudes and show how the 9th grade student, their teachers teaching financial literacy and social workers dealing with the debt problems, perceive, experience and apply the approach to financial literacy and teaching of it in these days. In conclusion, the reader will find the answer to the main research question and draft recommendations for further research and practice.
