The relationship between intensive parenting and separation anxiety of children in preschool age

Abstract:

Práce je zaměřena na souvislost intenzivního rodičovství se separační úzkostí u předškolních dětí. Cílem bylo ověřit, zda existuje vztah mezi separační úzkostí u dětí a mírou stimulace, zaměřenosti na dítě a mírou organizovaných aktivit. Dále byly zjišťovány rozdíly v míře intenzivního rodičovství v souvislosti se vzděláním matky. Dalším záměrem výzkumu bylo zjistit vliv potenciálního mediátoru (zaměřenosti matky na dítě) na vztah mezi tím, jak separační úzkost dítěte hodnotí matka a dítě. Výzkumu se zúčastnilo 192 respondentů, z toho 96 matek (M = 34,47 let, SD = 4,32) a 96 dětí (M = 66,27 měsíců, SD = 9,79). Data byla v této práci získána pomocí dotazníku a rozhovorů. Intenzivní rodičovství v tomto výzkumu se separační úzkostí dětí nesouviselo. Rozdíl v míře intenzivního rodičovství mezi matkami s vysokoškolským vzděláním a bez něj nalezen nebyl. V důsledku nesplnění předpokladů nebylo možné ověřovat mediační hypotézy. Tato práce přináší nový pohled na problematiku intenzivního rodičovství.

Abstract:

This thesis is focused on the relationship between intensive parenting and separation anxiety of children in preschool age. The aim of this thesis was to verify the relationship between separation anxiety of children and mother’s stimulation, child centeredness and the amount of organized activites. There were also identi-fied differences in the degree of intensive parenting in connection with mother’s education. Another aim of the research was to determine the influence of potential mediator (child centeredness of the mother) to the relationship between mother’s and child’s measure of separation anxiety. The research involved 192 re-spondents, 96 mothers (M = 34,47 years, SD = 4,32) and 96 children (M = 66,27 months, SD = 9,79). Data in this thesis was collected through questionnaire and interviews. There was no relationship between intensive parenting and separation anxiety of children in this research. There were no significant differences in intesive parenting between respondents with higher education and without it. As a result of failure to meet the assumptions, it was not possible to verify the mediation hypotheses. This thesis brings a new view to issues of intensive parenting.
