Většina nádorů kolonu a rekta se vyvíjí z benigních adenomů a vývoj trvá řadu let. Vznik kolorektálního karcinomu může ovlivnit jak genetická predispozice, tak zejména strava, kde významnou roli hraje obsah a typ mastných kyselin. Most colorectal carcinomas develop from benign adenomas and their development lasts many years. Inception of colorectal cancer may be affected by genetic predisposition and especially by food, in which content and type of fatty acids play an important role.
