Study of secondary phosphates from granitic pegmatite near Cyrilov.

Abstract:

Minerální parageneze Fe-Mn fosforečnanů z granitického pegmatitu v Cyrilově je předmětem výzkumu již 125 let. Revize primárních fosfátů byla provedena relativně nedávno, ale výzkum, zaměřený na sekundární fosfáty s využitím moderních analytických metod, chybí. Za účelem podrobné charakteristiky zdejší minerální parageneze byla použita řada analytických metod (EMP, Ramanova spektroskopie, pXRD, LA-ICP-MS). Výzkum umožnil potvrdit a reklasifikovat všechny minerální fáze již popsané z Cyrilova. Wolfeit, který byl z Cyrilova v minulosti popsán, byl překlasifikován na vzácný staněkit. Dále zde byl nově nalezen arrojadit s. l., kryzhanovskit, jahnsit s. l. a další minerály. Výzkum identifikoval nejméně dvě potencionálně nové minerální fáze ze skupin paulkerritu a wagneritu. Dále byl objeven manganový analog paulkerritu, který byl z Cyrilova dříve uváděn jako benyacarit a Fe-dominantní analog staněkitu, který byl považován (stejně jako staněkit) za wolfeit. Paragenetické procesy vedoucí ke vzniku Fe-Mn fosfátové parageneze v Cyrilově lze shrnout takto: zwieselit a Li-bohatý prekurzor graftonitu vznikly ze dvou typů segregovaných fosfátových tavenin. Trifylín a sarkopsid vznikly během postupné exsoluce, trifylín byl později kompletně alterován na heterosit. Z reziduální taveniny nebo fluid vykrystalizovaly staněkit až „ferrostaněkit“, arrojadit s. l. a harrisonit. Vysokoteplotní metasomatóza způsobila vznik graftonitu II a kryzhanovskitu. Při postupném chladnutí tělesa byla vytvořena řada produktů vlivem hydrotermální alterace. Mezi nejmladší fosforečnany v Cyrilovské asociaci patří precipitáty alkáliemi bohatých nízkoteplotních roztoků, leukofosfit, fosfosiderit, strengit a cyrilovit.

Abstract:

The Fe-Mn phosphate assemblage in the Cyrilov granitic pegmatite has already been researched for 125 years. The primary phosphate mineralogy was revised quite recently but the research focused on the secondary phosphate assemblage using the modern analytical methods is lacking. The series of analytical methods (EMP, the Raman spectroscopy, pXRD, LA-ICP-MS) was employed to sufficiently characterize the assemblage. The research enabled confirmation or reclassification of all phases previously described from Cyrilov. Wolfeite, that was previously mentioned from the Cyrilov pegmatite, was reclassified as rare staněkite. Furthermore, several minerals were newly found (e.g. arrojadite s. l., kryzhanovskite and jahnsite s. l.) there. Moreover, two potentially new mineral phases of the paulkerrite and wagnerite groups were identified. The Mn-dominant analogue of paulkerrite was previously described as benyacarite and the Fe-dominant analogue of staněkite (as well as staněkite) was considered to be wolfeite. The paragenetic processes leading to Cyrilov Fe-Mn phosphate assemblage formation can be summarized as follows: two types of phosphatic melt segregated, forming zwieselite and Li-rich graftonite precursor. Triphylite and sarcopside subsequently exsolved from the graftonite precursor, and triphylite was completely altered to heterosite. Staněkite to “ferrostaněkite”, arrojadite s. l. and harrisonite crystallized from residual melt or fluids. High temperature metasomatism generated graftonite II and kryzhanovskite. A series of hydrothermal alteration products were formed as a consequence of the cooling of the system. Leucophosphite, phosphosiderite, strengite and cyrilovite represent the latest low temperature phosphates created from alkali-enriched fluids in the assemblage.
