Growing corn with cover crops

Abstract:

Výzkumná práce se zabývá posouzením vlivu pěstování podsevových plodin v meziřadí kukuřice seté. Literární přehled se z části zaměřuje na obecnou problematiku pěstování kukuřice, která zahrnuje agrotechnické opatření, výživu a ochranu rostlin. Druhá polovina literárního přehledu se orientuje na oblast podsevových plodin, jejich uplatnění v praxi, volbu vhodných druhů a agrotechnické požadavky. V praktické části byl vytvořen maloparcelní pokus s patnácti variantami podsevových druhů a jejich kombinací. V rámci hodnocení dynamiky růstu a množství biomasy se ve třech termínech odebíraly vzorky rostlin pro analýzu suché hmoty. Výsledky suché hmoty prokázaly odlišnou rychlost růstu, pokryvnost půdy a výnos biomasy mezi jednotlivými podsevovými plodinami. Z výsledku vyplývá, že největší nárůst suché biomasy mělo žito seté, svazenka vratičolistá a jílek mnohokvětý. Předmětem pozorování na konci vegetace byl rozbor rostlin kukuřic, který sloužil k posouzení vlivů podsevových plodin na růst a výnos hlavní plodiny. Výsledky z ročníku 2021 hodnotící rostliny kukuřic poukázaly na průkazné snížení výnosu u variant s dynamickým počátečním růstem a vysokou produkci biomasy.

Abstract:

The research work deals with assessing the influence of growing cover crops in every other row of Zea mays. The literary review partially focuses on the general issue of growing maize, which includes agrotechnical measures, nutrition and plant protection. The second half of the literary review focuses on cover crops, their practical application, selecting the proper kinds and agrotechnical requirements. A small-plot experiment with fifteen kinds of cover crops and their combinations was conducted in the practical part. When evaluating the growth dynamics and the amount of biomass, plant samples were collected at three intervals in order to analyse dry matter. The results of the dry matter demonstrated a different growth rate, soil coverage and biomass yield among the individual cover crops. Based on the results, it is clear that the Secale cereale, Phacelia tanacetifolia and ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum) have the largest increase in dry biomass. The subject of observations at the end of the vegetation was analysing maize plants, which was used to assess the effects of cover crops on the growth and yield of the main crop. The results from 2021, which evaluate the corn plants showed a significant decrease in the yield for variants with a dynamic initial growth and high biomass production.
