Processes of forming oxalate and phospahates bearing kidney stones

Abstract:

V diplomové práci se věnuji studiu kompletních ledvinových kamenů pomocí optické mikroskopie a elektronové mikrosondy. V práci jsou sepsány základní údaje o onemocnění projevujícím se tvorbou ledvinových kamenů. Následuje popis pro práci podstatných minerálů, kam se řadí hlavně weddellit, whewellit, apatit a struvit. Ke konci teoretické části práce jsou popsány některé teorie týkající se procesu tvorby ledvinových kamenů. V práci jsou představeny dva oxaláto-apatito-struvitové konkrementy a jejich růstové stavby. Pozorované růstové stavby bylo možné rozdělit na primární a sekundární. Díky členění na primární a sekundární stavby je možné vyčlenit i základní krystalizační procesy růstu jako primární a sekundární. Bylo zjištěno, že konkrementy rostou dynamicky a jejich růst bývá ovlivněn změnou okolního prostředí. Tato dynamika je vidět na sekundárních stavbách, které vznikly zatlačováním či nahrazováním dříve vykrystalovaných staveb, a to díky sekundárním procesům jako je například rozpouštění či dehydratace. V krajním případě působení sekundárních procesů může nastat situace, kdy zanalyzovaná fáze (metodou IR spektroskopie či Ramanovy spektroskopie) nemusí být tou fází, která se vyvíjela po celou dobu růstu konkrementu.

Abstract:

In my diploma theses I focus on the complete study of kidney stones with the help of optical misroscopy and electron microprobe. In my theses I describe the basic facts about urolithiasis which is followed by description of more important minerals, for example weddellite, whewellite, apatite and struvite. To the end of the theoretical part of my theses I introduced some theories important for the growth process of kidney stones. I introduced the two oxalate-apatite-struvite concrements and their growth structures. These observed growth structures I divided to primary and secondary. Thanks to this division to primary and secondary, we can further divide the basic process of crystallization of these structures to primary and secondary. I established that these concrements grow dynamically and their growth is influenced by the environment. This dynamics is the most obvious on the secondary structures. These structures were created either by pushing or by replacement of the previously crystalized structures. This happened thanks to secondary processes, for example dissolution or dehydration. In the extreme example of secondary processes the effect doesn’t have to be the same analyzed phase, which developed for the whole time of the concrement growth.
