Analysis of Comparison of the Adoption Curve of Digital Assets with other Disruptive Technologies in the past 100 Years

Abstract:

Tato práce se zaměřuje na analýzu a porovnání adopčních křivek digitálních aktiv s dalšími technologickými inovacemi. V posledních letech se digitální aktiva (jinak také nazývaná krypto aktiva, kryptoměny nebo blockchainové technologie) stávají stále populárnější, a to nejen z pohledu spekulativní investice. Stále více investorů, a to už i z řad těch institucionárních, si začíná uvědomovat potenciál blockchainu a DLT (distributed ledger technology) pro finanční svět a celkově pro budoucí lidskou interakci v online prostředí. Proto jsem se v rámci této práce rozhodl porovnat rychlost adopce této nové třídy aktiv s jinými inovativními technologiemi za posledních 100 let. V této práci budou popsány základní principy a charakteristiky digitálních aktiv a dalších technologických inovací, jako jsou internet, mobilní telefon a umělá inteligence. Dále bude provedena analýza pomocí adopčních křivek jednotlivých technologií. Výsledky ukážou, jak digitální aktiva a další technologie se od sebe liší, nebo co mají společné v adopčním cyklu.

Abstract:

This work focuses on the analysis and comparison of adoption curves of digital assets with other technological innovations. In recent years, digital assets (also known as crypto assets, cryptocurrencies, or blockchain technologies) have become increasingly popular, not only from a speculative investment perspective. More and more investors, including institutional investors, are realizing the potential of blockchain and DLT (distributed ledger technology) for the financial world and overall for future human interaction in the online environment. Therefore, within the scope of this work, I have decided to compare the adoption speed of this new asset class with other innovative technologies over the last 100 years. This work will describe the basic principles and characteristics of digital assets and other technological innovations such as the internet, mobile phones, and artificial intelligence. Furthermore, an analysis will be carried out using the adoption curves of individual technologies. The results will show how digital assets and other technologies differ or have in common in the adoption cycle.
