European Union from the Constitutional treaty to the Lisabon Treaty

Abstract:

Tématem diplomové práce je vývoj Evropské unie od Evropské ústavní smlouvy k Lisabonu. Evropská ústavní smlouva vznikla zadáním Laekenské deklarace. Deklarace Unii zavazuje k větší demokratičnosti, transparentnosti a efektivnosti. Laekenská deklarace měla za úkol vyřešit demokratický deficit Evropské Unie a přiblížit Unii občanům členských států. Nejprve se zabývám vznikem ústavní smlouvy, která se záhy stala mrtvým dokumentem. Po jejím odmítnutí bylo vyhlášeno období reflexe, které vyvrcholilo Lisabonskou smlouvou. Druhá část práce porovnává změny, které přináší Lisabonská smlouva s obsahem Evropské ústavní smlouvy. Na závěr se věnuji Lisabonské smlouvě z pohledu demokratického deficitu.

Abstract:

The topic of my thesis is „the development of European Union from the European Constitution Treaty to the Treaty of Lisboa“. The European Constitution Treaty was created by the Laeken Declaration. This Declaration was meant to lead the European Union to improved democracy, transparency and efficiency. The Laeken Declaration also aimed to solve the European Union democratic deficit and bring The European Union back to the citizens of the states of EU. The first part of my thesis deals with the creation of the European Constitution Treaty, although it became a dead document very soon. After the treaty was denied, a period of reflection was declared. This period lead to the treaty od Lisboa. The second part of my thesis compares changes brought by the Treaty of Lisboa with the content of the European Constitution Treaty. In finally, search the Treaty of Lisboa in the terms of democratic deficit.
