Integration of jazz elements in my compositional work

Abstract:

AbstraktV této práci se zabývám tématem integrace jazzových prvků do vážné hudby ve vlastní tvorbě. Spojení jazzu s vážnou hudbou je předmětem diskuzí hudební veřejnosti celého 20. století. Od počátku vzniku jazzu došlo u některých skladeb k syntéze a následnému prolínání tohoto žánru s vážnou hudbou. Tyto tendence vycházejí z historie, v určitém okruhu skladatelů přetrvávají až dodnes. První vlnou byli skladatelé na přelomu století až do první poloviny 20. století. Počínaje francouzskými impresionisty - Maurice Ravel, dále po Pařížskou šestku - Darius Milhaud, Francois Poulenc i Artur Honneger. Nesmí zde chybět ani Igor Stravinskij. U nás toto stylové období zastupovali Bohuslav Martinů, Erwin Schulhof a zejména Jaroslav Ježek. Druhá vlna těchto tendencí začala v 60. letech, kde dostala i svůj název "třetí proud". U nás ho zastupovali zejména Alexej Fried, Pavel Blatný, Milan Svoboda a další. Téma syntézy jazzu a vážné hudby je aktuální dodnes, mnoho skladatelů ji považuje za své kompoziční východisko. Samozřejmě během 20. století došlo k velkému narůstání počtu stylů v populární hudbě a dochází i k jejich syntéze s vážnou hudbou. Je to velmi široké téma a tak chci práci omezit pokud možno jen na svoji tvorbu ovlivněnou jazzem.

AbstractThis Bachelor thesis is focused on the integration of jazz elements in my classical music compositions. For the whole 20th century, the combination of jazz and classical music was a subject of discussions in a musical society. From the origins of jazz, some compositions were combined and subsequently influenced by classical music. This approach still remains in a certain group of composers to this day.The first movement is represented by the composers of the early 20th century, including French Impressionists e.g. Maurice Ravel, Les Six - Darius Milhaud, Francis Poulenc and Arthur Honneger. We should not forget to mention Igor Stravinskij. In our land, these trends can be found in works of Bohuslav Martinů, Erwin Schulhof and especially in works of Jaroslav Ježek.The second movement of these trends began in the 60s and it was called "The Third stream". In our country it is represented by Alexej Fried, Pavel Blatný, Milan Svoboda and others. The idea of synthesis of jazz and classical music is still current to this day, many composers consider it their compositional basis.Over the course of the 20th century there was a great style diversification in a popular music and so over the time the synthesis of other styles with classical music appeared. It is a very broad topic. That is the reason why I would like to focus on my compositional work influenced by jazz.
