Hasidism and Spiritual Healing

Abstract:

Práce se věnuje tématu chasidismu a konkrétně pojednává o praktické magické asistenci cadika v podobě léčitelství, exorcismu a konání dalších zázračných činů. Text se také věnuje obecnému vztahu magie a náboženství, lidového a oficiálního náboženství, uvádí koncept charismatu, čímž vytváří kontext daného tématu. Koncept cadika v chasidismu je rozveden v rámci tématu praktického a teoretického cadikismu. Důležitá je postava zakladatele východoevropského chasidismu, Jisra’ele Eli’ezera Ba’al Šem Tova, který ustanovuje mnoho důležitých aspektů učení, jakož i vazbu chasidismu na oblast léčitelství a skrze jehož působení se začínají utvářet skupiny prvních východoevropských chasidů. Oblast léčitelství je popsána prostřednictvím statí věnujícím se povaze nemoci a způsobu jejího léčení. Pojítkem mezi obecným pojednáním a tradicí chasidismu jsou příběhy chasidů, které jsou důležitým zdrojem poznání vztahu chasidů k okolnímu světu, dobru a zlu, ke svým duchovním vůdcům a k sobě samým. Zahrnuta je i stať věnující se způsobu komunikace mezi chasidy a cadikem, založená často na osobní návštěvě a poutích. Na základě těchto dílčích témat se pak práce snaží odpovědět na dané otázky.

Abstract:

The work turns to the subject of hasidism and in the concrete way it deals with practical magical assistance of the zaddik in the way of helaing, exorcism and wonders working acts. The text deals also with the general relation among the magic and religion, popular and official way of religion and it mentions also the concept of charisma. These topics represent the contextual point of the theme. The concept of zaddik in hasidism is elaborated in terms of the theme of practical and teoretical sides of the zaddik’s operating. The character of the founder of East-european hasidism Israel Elieser Baal Shem Tov is very important moment in our matter. Some hasidic groups appeared through his work and he himslef established the most of the aspects of hasidism, as well as connection with the sphere of healing. Healing is decribed through the essay about the nature of sickness and the way of its healing. Some hasidic stories are used for describing relation between the general point of the problem and the tradition of hasidism. These stories are important for recognizing the way how hasidic people approached the world, well-being and evil power, how they honoured their leaders and what they did to each other. At the end there is the essay about the communication among the hasidim and their zaddik based mostly on the personal visit and pilgrimage. Following these items the work is trying to answer a given questions.
