Alzheimer's disease from the perspective of the sociology of health and illness

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje na Alzheimerovu chorobu z pohledu sociologie nemoci. V teoretické části se zabývám sociologií nemoci a medicíny. Věnuji se tak vymezení pojmů zdraví, nemoc a stáří. Další kapitola se zaměřuje na péči o pacienta s Alzheimerovou chorobou. K provedení výzkumu jsem si zvolila formu etnografické studie. Výzkum probíhal od ledna do března 2014 v centru specializujícím se na klienty s Alzheimerovou chorobou. V závěru mého pobytu v centru bylo provedeno dvanáct polostrukturovaných rozhovorů se zaměstnanci centra a deset polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s rodinnými příslušníky klientů centra.

Abstract:

This diploma work focuses on Alzheimer´s disease in sociology point of view. In theoretical part I deal with sociology of the disease and medical science. I focus on determination of term health, disease and old age. Next theoretical part is a chapter focusing on treatment for a patient with Alzheimer´s disease. To perform the research I chose a form of etnographical study. The research took place in a special centre with clients who suffer from Alzheimer´s disease from January to March 2014. In the end of my research, I made twelve half-structured interviews with employees of the centre and ten half-structured interviews with family members of the clients in this centre.
