Současné poznatky o biologii kmenových buněk ukazují na reálnost využití těchto unikátních buněk v klinické medicíně, zejména v podobě takzvané buněčné terapie. Cílem bakalářské práce je sumarizovat současné pokroky v diferenciaci různých typů kmenových buněk do endokrinních buněk pankreatu, s cílem využít jich spolu s transplantacemi slinivky a ostrůvků k léčbě diabetu. Current knowledge about the biology of stem cells show the feasibility of using these unique cells in clinical medicine, especially in the form of so-called cell therapy.
