Population ageing as an economic threat

Abstract:

Práce na základě provedené analýzy nepříznivého vývoje řady demografických ukazatelů a současných populačních prognóz zachycuje fenomén stárnutí populace, který představuje vážné riziko pro rovnováhu systému sociálního zabezpečení, pracovní trh a ekonomiku státu jako takovou. Práce analyzuje aktuální nastavení důchodového systému ČR, který v blízké době čeká výzva v podobě stále se zvyšujícího počtu žadatelů o starobní důchod. Cílem práce je na základě provedených analýz zodpovědět výzkumné otázky, které práce formuluje. V závěru práce autor předkládá seznam opatření, které po implementaci lokální vládou, potažmo celou společností, povedou ke zmírnění negativních dopadů stárnutí populace na státní ekonomiku, pracovní trh a podpoří udržitelnost důchodového systému.

Abstract:

Based on the analysis of unfavourably developing demographic indicators and current population forecasts, this master thesis captures the phenomenon of population ageing, which poses a serious risk to the balance of the social security system, the labor market and the national economy itself. The thesis analyzes the current settings of the Czech Republic’s social security system, which is facing the challange of an ever-increasing number of old-age pensioners. The aim of this thesis is to answer the presented research questions based on the performed analyses. At the end of the thesis the author presents a list of counter measures and recommendations based on the accomplished analyses, which, after implementation by the local government and society itself, aspire to reduce the negative impacts of population ageing on the state economy and labor market and thus to support the sustainability of the social security system.
