Antimicrobial testing of natural extracts against selected bacteria of the genus Arcobacter

Abstract:

Tato práce pojednává o poměrně nedávno objeveném rodu bakterií Arcobacter, o jeho historii, morfologii, kultivaci, onemocnění, která tato bakterie mohou způsobovat a také o možnostech prevence těchto onemocnění. Zejména se zaměřuje na testování antimikrobiálních účinků extraktů z vybraných přírodních produktů vůči této bakterii. V práci jsem testovala inhibiční efekt extraktu brusinky, hřebíčku, plodů a semínek vinné révy, semínek granátového jablka, zeleného, bílého a černého čaje, čaje Pu-Erh, zrnkové a rozpustné kávy. Jelikož se stále objevují nové rezistence různých bakterií k jednotlivým typům antibiotik, je nutné hledat i přírodní alternativy těchto antimikrobiálních léků. Po dalším testování by se některé látky mohly stát potenciálním prostředkem v "boji" s mikroorganismy nejen v potravinářském průmyslu.

Abstract:

This paper deals with a relatively recently discovered family of bacteria Arcobacter, its history, morphology, cultivation, diseases, which causes and prevention of this disease. Above all, it is focuses on testing the antimicrobial effects of the extracts from natural products of chosen against this bacterium. In this work, I tested the inhibitory effect of extracts of cranberries, cloves, berries and grape seed, pomegranate seeds, green, white and black tea, Pu-Erh tea, beans and soluble coffee. As there is continuing occurrence of new resistance of various bacteria to the different types of antibiotics, it is neceséry to search natural alternatives to these antimicrobial drugs. After further testing certain substances could become a potential tool for "fighting" with the microorganisms not only in the food industry.
