Analysis of the social situation in families of vulnerable poor

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce bude analyzovat sociální situaci v rodinách ohrožených chudobou. Jedná se o rodiny, které se ocitly na pokraji nouze. Situace, do které se z různých důvodů dostaly, přispěla k tomu, že je jejich současným místem bydliště ubytovna. Zaměříme se zejména na objasnění důvodů, díky kterým se do současné situace dostaly. Teoretická část práce bude zaměřena na základní terminologii, vztahující se k rodině jako takové, typologii rodin a funkce rodiny, na problematiku sociálního vyloučení, k problematice sociálního bydlení, dále na problematiku nezaměstnanosti, chudoby a systému sociálních dávek. Dále se zaměříme na příčiny sociálního vyloučení, možnosti pomoci od státu v podobě čerpání sociálních dávek, též na možnosti pomoci s ubytováním, prostřednictvím různých institucí a v neposlední řadě na nejvíce ohrožené skupiny sociálním vyloučením. Empirická část práce bude mít podobu kvalitativního výzkumu. K tomuto výzkumu využiji metodu strukturovaného rozhovoru s dospělými členy ohrožených rodin, s pracovníky ubytovny, s pracovníky Úřadu práce a s terénními sociálními pracovníky. Výzkum bude realizován na ubytovně ve městě Louny, kde právě žijí rodiny, které se z různých důvodů ocitly na pokraji chudoby. Jako výzkumný vzorek participantů budeme oslovovat různé typy rodin, které na zmíněné ubytovně žijí. Výzkumem se pokusím zjistit, jaké jsou důvody, které přispěly k situaci, ve které se rodina ocitla, jak dlouho se v takové situaci nacházejí a co učinily pro to, aby se jejich situace změnila. Výsledky výzkumu přispějí k analýze hlavních důvodů, díky kterým se rodiny ocitají na pokraji nouze, dále k tomu, zda mají rodiny snahu svou situaci změnit a jaké možnosti nabízené pomoci využívají.

Abstract:

The aim of the Bachelor work will analyse social situations in families threatened by poverty. It concerns families who find themselves on the cusp of calamity. Situations in which they have found themselves for various reasons were exacerbated by their residence in a hostel. We will focus in particular on clarifying the reasons they got into their current situation. The theoretical part of the work is focused on the basic terminology relating to a family, typologies and functions of a family, the issue of social exclusion, the issue of social housing, and the issues of unemployment, poverty and social welfare benefits. We also look at the causes of social exclusion, state assistance options in the form of utilising welfare benefits, as well as the possibility of housing assistance through the agency of various institutions, and finally the groups most threatened by social exclusion. The empirical part of the work takes the form of qualitative research. This research uses structured interview methods with adult members of threatened families, hostel employees, Labour Office staff and social workers in the field. The research will be carried out at a hostel in Louny where the families who find themselves on the brink of poverty actually live. The participant research sample will include various types of families who live at the aforementioned hostel. The research will attempt to ascertain the reasons that contributed to the situation in which the families find themselves, how long they have been in such a situation, and what they have done to change their situation. The results of the research will contribute to an analysis of the main reasons the families find themselves on the cusp of catastrophe, as well as whether the families have made any attempt at all to change their own situation and what options of proffered assistance they have utilised.
