Abstract:

Předmětem této práce je porovnání strategií klasického a současného filmového průmyslu a jejich dopad na filmové hvězdy. Hlavním cílem této práce je prozkoumat studiový systém a jeho vliv na filmové hvězdy, jako i strukturální změny, které změnily pozici filmové hvězdy, a podpořily vznik celebrit. Práce je systematicky rozdělena do pěti kapitol. První kapitola nabízí přehled studiového systému a představuje ponímání charakteru hvězdy a její podoby, zatímco zkoumá vztahy mezi hvězdami a studiem a mezi studiem a diváky. Druhá kapitola nabízí analýzu kariery několik vybraných filmových hvězd z klasické studiové éry a jejich vztahy s filmovými studiemi. Třetí kapitola demonstruje změny v současném filmovém průmyslu a zkoumá pozici filmových hvězd a současných celebrit. Čtvrtá kapitola demonstruje změněný status vybraných současných hvězd a celebrit v současném Hollywoodu a studuje způsoby, jakými odpovídaly požadavkům průmyslu. Poslední kapitola poukazuje na významnost vztahu mezi průmyslem a divákem a tím poskytuje prostor pro další výzkum.

Abstract:

The object of the thesis is a comparison of the strategies of the classical and contemporary motion picture industry, and their impact on film stars. The main focus of this work is to explore the studio system and its influence on film stars as well as its structural changes that have altered the position of film stars and encouraged the emergence of celebrities. The thesis is systematically divided into five chapters. The first chapter provides an overview of the studio system and introduces the notion of stardom and a star image, while exploring the relationships between stars and the studios as well as between the studios and audiences. The second chapter provides an analysis of the careers of a few selected film stars from the classical studio era and their relationships with the film studios. The third chapter demonstrates changes in the contemporary motion picture industry, and examines the position of film stars and contemporary celebrities. The fourth chapter demonstrates the altered status of selected contemporary stars and celebrities in contemporary Hollywood, and studies the ways in which they have met the industry’s requirements. The last chapter points out the significance of the relationship between the industry and the audience, and thus provides a space for further research.
