Abstract:

Cílem práce bylo vytvořit široký náhled na smrt, umírání, pohřební rity a rituály (zahrunuto pod termín tanatologie) v rámci indické civilizace. Je zde nastíněn stručný vývoj této společnosti, od původních obyvatel po vznik nezávislé Indické republiky.Další kapitola je věnovaná utváření náboženského systému, které vrcholilo vznikem hinduismu.Ten byl za svého dlouhodobého vývoje postupně rozšiřován, obhohacován a doprovázen vznikem dalších náboženství, které vznikaly jak na území Indie (buddhismus, džinismus a sikhsismus), tak i náboženstvími, které mají svůj původ za hranicemi Indie (islám, pársismus), a často byly s hindusimem ve vzájemné interakci. Dnešní hinduismus je výsledkem několikatisícilétého vývoje a se svým neodmyslitelným kastovním systémem představuje nábožensko-společenskou organizaci většiny indického obyvatelstva. Převážná část se věnuje hinduistické tanatologii; základní myšlenkou je zde koloběh znovuzrozování ovlivněný chováním a činy každého jednotlivce. Ty určí jeho dočasný pobyt v nebi či pekle a druh následného znovuzrození. Eschatologické představy jsou v hinduismu dopodrobna propracovány. Tělo je však pro hinduisty jen přechodnou schránkou duše, a s touto představou se pojí způsob pohřbívání zemřelých. Je jím kremace spojená s celou řadou pohřebních rituálů, počínaje rituály prováděnými u smrtelné postele, přes ty, jenž je nutné konat během kremace, po celoživotní obřady a uctívání spojené s kultem předků. V práci jsou také zahrnuta některá mytologická témata týkající se smrti, a náhled na některé fenomény, které jsou spjaty s indickým pohřbíváním, z nichž nejvýraznější je satí, v historii často praktikovaný a ještě v posledních letech se objevující obřad upálení vdovy na společné hranici se zesnulým manželem. Závěrečná kapitola stručně popisuje výše zmíněná témata v pojetí současných menšinových náboženstvích Indie, všímá si představ, které sdílí s hinduismem, ale i jejich vlastních specifik.

Abstract:

The task of the thesis was to create the detailed view of the death, dying, funeral rites and rituals (summarized in the term thanatology) within the indian civilization. The thesis briefly describes the evolution of this culture, begins with the original settlers, ends with the foundation of the independent Indian republic. The next part is engaged in forming the religious system, which culminated in hinduism. During its evolving, hinduism was gradually enriched, and attended with several different religions, which had their origins either in India (buddhism, jainism, sikhism), or abroad (islam, parsism), and which were often in interaction with hinduism. Contemporary hinduism is the result of the evolution, which took several millenniums, and thanks to its caste system it represents religious and social organization for the most indian population. The main part of the thesis is engaged in hindu thanatology; the fundamental idea is the cycle of rebirths ingfuenced by the behaving and the acts of the human beings. These acts determine their temporary stay eiher in hell or in heaven and the character of their next rebirths. The hindu eschatology is elaborately developed. But the body is just a temporary covering, this idea is reflected in the way of burying. The way is cremation attended with the row of funeral rituals, from the rituals practised close to dying person, over those which are practised during a cremation, to lifelong ceremonies and glorying concerning the ancestral cult. Several mythological subjects and phenomenons concerning indian burying are included in the thesis. The striking one is sati, which is the ceremony of a widow-burning, often done in history and persisting to recent time. The final part briefly describes the thanatological concepts of minor religions in todays India, and takes notice of the ideas, which are in common with hinduism, but also focuses on its own specifics.
