European Integration Process and Its Continuation according to the Lisbon Treaty

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce rekapituluje hlavní milníky moderního procesu evropské integrace. Na omezeném prostoru připomíná založení prvních třech Evropských společenství v padesátých letech dvacátého století, budování vnitřního trhu, postupné prohlubování spolupráce i vlny rozšiřování členských států Společenství. Na popis dosaženého vývoje tohoto quasi-federálního uskupení, včetně jeho dosavadního institucionálního uspořádání, autorka navazuje vysvětlením hlavních změn, které má Unii přinést reformní Lisabonská smlouva. Mezi popisem dosažených pokroků evropské integrace a plánovaných změn se autorka zamýšlí nad smyslem a významem tohoto procesu.

Abstract:

This paper resumes the milestones of the modern era of the European integration. On a limited space, it recalls the establishment of the three European Communities in the 50s, a construction of the internal market, gradual furthering of the cooperation, as well as waves of enlargement of the Member States of the Communities. The description of the reached state of this quasi-federal entity, including the current institutional adjustment, is followed by the Author’s explanation of the main changes to be brought to the Union by the Lisbon Treaty. Between the description of the gained progress of the European integration and the projected modifications, the Author captures her thoughts on the purpose and significance of this process.
