Occupational therapy for children with postnatal paresis of plexus brachialis

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na problematiku dětí s poporodní parézou brachiálního plexu. Obsahuje souhrn informací z českých i zahraničních publikací týkající se konzervativní i chirurgické léčby. Obecná část je zaměřena především na anatomii a typy postižení brachiálního plexu. Dále zde stručně popisujeme reakci nervů na poškození a jejich regeneraci a zmíněny jsou i klinické příznaky a diagnostické postupy. Speciální část shrnuje metody využívané v ergoterapii a obsahuje i popis průběhu rekonstrukční operace. Součástí této práce jsou kazuistiky tří pacientů s odlišným typem poporodní parézy brachiálního plexu. V hlavní části je popsána metodika, vstupní i výstupní vyšetření pacientů včetně kineziologického rozboru, a zmíněn je i krátkodobý a dlouhodobý ergoterapeutický plán.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is focused on the issue of children with postpartum brachial plexus paresis. It contains a summary of information from Czech and foreign publications concerning both conservative and surgical treatment. The general part is focused mainly on the anatomy and the types of brachial plexus involvement. Furthermore, the response of nerves to damage and their regeneration is briefly described and the clinical signs and diagnostic procedures are also mentioned. The special part of the thesis summarizes the methods used in the occupational therapy and it includes a description of the course of the reconstruction operation. The case studies of three patients with a different type of postpartum brachial plexus paresis are part of this work. The main part describes the methodology, the input and output examinations of the patients, including a kinesiological analysis, and the short and long term occupatoinal therapist's plan is mentioned.
