Fund of deposit insurance - analysis of current situation and its future development

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá Fondem pojištění vkladů z hlediska jeho významu v bankovním systému, zejména jako stabilizačního prvku. V první části práce je charakterizován bankovní sektor jako celek včetně jeho funkcí a historie. Dále je zde podrobněji popsán samotný Fond pojištění (včetně důvodů jeho vzniku a vývoje v minulosti) v České republice, jeho porovnání se situací v zahraničí, výhody nevýhody a pravidla, která Fond musí dodržovat. Cílem práce je pak v její druhé části vyhodnotit na základě informací v předešlých kapitolách, zda je současný pojistný (a zároveň bankovní) systém stabilní a udržitelný i v budoucnosti bez nutnosti změny současných pravidel. Jedná se především o aspekt dostatku vybíraného pojistného a připravenosti Fondu pojištění vkladů na výplaty větších finančních částek v případě, že by nečekaně zbankrotovalo větší množství finančních institucí. K ověření udržitelnosti doposud nastavených pravidel je v této práci vytvořeno několik scénářů, které by mohly v následujících letech nastat.

Abstract:

The diploma work is dealing with the meaning of the Deposit insurance fund in the banking system as an element of stabilization. The first part of the work pursues banking sector as a complex including its functions and history, Deposit insurance fund detailed following, especially the reasons of its funding and development in the past of the Czech republic. There are also mentioned benefits and drawbacks, the comparison with the foreing countries and the regulations the fund has to keep. The focal point lies in the second part of the work, which on the basis of information of the previous chapters evaluates the stability and sustainability of currentinsurance and banking systém at the time – without doing changes of the contemporary regulations. The issue is that the Deposit insurance fund has to be ready for paying of significant amounts in the case of unexpected bankrupcy of major number of the financial institutions. To verify the sustainability of the adjusted regulations up to now there have been originated few screenplays they could be set in.
