Participation of family members in patient care in the Intensive Care Units

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematickou spoluúčasti rodinných příslušníků na péči o pacienta v prostředí intenzivní péče. Práce je rozdělena na dvě části – teoretickou a empirickou. Úkolem teoretické práce je vytvoření teoretických východisek výzkumu. Definuje pojem rodina, seznamuje s procesem začlenění rodiny do péče o jejich blízkého v intenzivní péči, informuje o typu a postupu ošetřovatelských intervencí, v kterých je možné zapojit rodinu, a popisuje prostředí intenzivní péče a jeho vliv na rodinu. Závěrem stručně uvádí etické a právní aspekty související se spoluúčastí rodin v péči o jejich blízkého. Empirická část se zabývá vytvořením a vyhodnocením výzkumného šetření. Metodikou výzkumu byl zvolen kvalitativní výzkum formou polostrukturovaného rozhovoru. Výzkumný soubor byl tvořen pěti všeobecnými sestrami a pěti rodinnými příslušníky na pracovišti Kliniky anesteziologie, resuscitace a intenzivní medicíny Fakultní nemocnice Brno.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the topic of participation of family members in patient care in Intensive Care Units. This thesis is divided into two parts – theoretical and empirical. The aim of the theoretical part is to create theoretical basis of the research. It defines the term family, introduces the process of family integration into the care for their beloved ones in the Intensive Care Units, informs about the type and procedure of nursing interventions in which the family can be involved, and describes the Intensive Care Units and its impact on the family. Finally, it briefly introduces ethical and legal aspects related to the participation of families in the care for their beloved ones. The empirical part deals with the creation and evaluation of the research. The research methodology used qualitative research in the form of a semi-structured interview. The research group consisted of five general nurses and five family memebers at the Department of Anaestesiology, Resuscitation and Intensive Medicine in the University Hospital in Brno.
