The complex restoration of gothic manuscript

Abstract:

Předmětem bakalářské práce je komplexní restaurování latinsky psaného rukopisu z 15. století. Jedná se o knihu s názvem Quaestiones super IV libros Sententiarum Petri Lombardi, která je uložena ve sbírkách Moravské zemské knihovny v Brně. Kniha byla poničena při povodních v polovině 19. století, kdy došlo ke ztrátě začátku knihy včetně přední desky, smrštění pokryvu, k deformaci vazů a znečištění nánosy bahna. Knižní blok byl díky bahnu na mnoha místech slepen a zřejmě v době čištění (nedostatečného) při snaze o rozlepení stran tak dále poničen potrháním a štěpením. Práce obsahuje podrobnou restaurátorskou dokumentaci. Zahrnuje identifikaci díla, typologický a typografický popis, popis poškození, restaurátorský záměr, popis postupu práce, použité materiály a podmínky uložení. Práce také obsahuje chemicko-technologické průzkumy, fotografickou dokumentaci a stručné informace o původu knihy.

Abstract:

The subject of the bachelor thesis is the complex restoration of the Latin written manuscript from the 15th century. This is a book entitled Quaestiones super IV libros sententiarum Petri Lombardi, which is deposited in the collection of the Moravian Library in Brno. The book was damaged during the floods in the mid-19th century, when the beginning of the book was lost, including the front plate, the cover was shrinkage, the ligaments were the deformed and the book block was polluted with mud. The book block has been glued in many places owing to the mud and damaged by rupturing and fission in the time of cleaning (insufficient). The work contains extensive restoration documentation. Includes identification of the book, typological and typographical description of the book, description of the damage, restoration plan, description of the work intervention, used materials and the conditions of storage. The work also includes chemicaltechnology surveys, photographic documentation, and short information on the origin of the book.
