The aim of this Bachelor thesis is to analyze the position of the United States towards the process of the European integration during the administration of President Harry S. Truman. It mainly deals with the role of the idea of European unity in context of the Marshall plan and emergence of the strategy of containment and it describes how the USA influenced its specific application.
