Poldark: Characteristic of female characters

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce je zaměřena na charakteristiku ženských televizních postav a na adaptační proces. Hlavním cílem je analýza adaptačních strategií první sezóny televizního seriálu Poldark v kontextu reprezentace ženských postav. Přesněji se tato práce soustřeďuje na charakteristiku tří hlavních ženských postav - Elizabeth, Verity a Demelzu. Podle konceptu Jeremyho Butlera je provedena analýza ženských postav na základě charakteristických znaků jako jsou jméno postavy, vzhled postavy, objektivní korelát, dialogy a jednání postavy. Na adaptační proces je nahlíženo z pohledu teorie adaptace a dvoučlenného modelu představeného Brianem McFarlanem. Transfer obsahuje prvky, které jsou snadno přenositelné z jednoho média do druhého. Zatímco pod vlastní adaptaci spadají prvky, které patří pouze adaptaci. V tomto případě televiznímu seriálu. Adaptační proces je zkoumán z pohledu reprezentace ženských postav.

Abstract:

This master's thesis is focused on characteristics of female television characters and the adaptation process. The main goal of the thesis is the analysis of adaptation strategy of the first season of the television series Poldark in the context of the representation of female characters. Precisely, this thesis focuses on the characteristics of the three main female characters - Elizabeth, Verity and Demelza. According to Jeremy Butler's concept, the analysis of female characters is performer on the basis of characteristics signs such as the character name, appearance, objective correlative, dialogue and action. The adaptation proces sis viewed from the perspective of an adaptation thepry and the two-part model introduced by Brian McFarlane. Transfer contains elements, which are easily transpored from one medium to another. While adaptation proper contains elements, which belong only to the adaptation. In this case the television series. Adaptation process is analysed from the representation of female characters point of view.
