Isolation of the difficulty in mastering the multiplication table at primary school

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá osvojováním násobení na 1. stupni základní školy. Jejím cílem je určit problematické spoje operace násobení a metody, kterými lze těmto obtížím předcházet. Práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a část praktickou. Teoretická část přibližuje v prvé řadě teoretický základ operace násobení přirozených čísel. Dále pak popisuje metodický postup při zavádění operace násobení na 1. stupni základní školy. Praktická část je věnována výzkumné činnosti. Nejprve je uvedena charakteristika výzkumného vzorku, cíl výzkumu a stručný popis výzkumných metod, které byly během výzkumu použity. Následuje uvedení průběhu výzkumu a jeho samotná analýza. Ta je rozdělena na část ústní a část písemnou podle toho, jakým způsobem byly spoje zadávány. Na závěr analýzy je provedeno srovnání obou typů násobení a chybovosti u jednotlivých žáků. Praktická část je zakončena návrhem metod, kterými by bylo možné obtížím při osvojování násobení předcházet.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with achieving mastery in multiplication at primary school. Its aim is to identify the problematic connections of the multiplication operation and the methods by which these difficulties can be prevented. The thesis is divided into a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part primarily explains theoretical basis of the multiplication operation with natural numbers. The next section describes the methodological process when introducing the multiplication operation at primary school. The practical part focuses on research activities. First, the characteristics of the research sample and the aim of the thesis are mentioned, followed by brief description of the research methods that were used in the research. The subsequent part deals with course of the research and the analysis itself. It is divided into oral and written parts by the manner in which the connections have been entered. At the end of the analysis, the comparison of both multiplication types as well as the error rate for individual pupils are performed. The practical part is concluded with the proposal of methods which could be used to prevent difficulties in achieving mastery in multiplication.
