The Position of Christian Minorities in Islamic Countries of the Western Asia

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce analyzuje postavení křesťanských minorit v regionu západní Asie. Jedná se o komparativní případovou studii postavení těchto minorit ve dvou geopolitických mocnostech regionu Turecku a Íránu. Hlavním cílem práce je nalezení faktorů, které ovlivňují postavení křesťanských minorit, na jejichž základě je pak analyzována jejich situace. Práce je rozdělena do dvou hlavních částí. V teoretické části jsou analyzovány ukazatele ovlivňující postavení křesťanských menšin v obou zemích. V praktické části dochází ke konkrétnímu rozebrání těchto ukazatelů v Turecku a Íránu. Empirická část práce je rozdělena do čtyř částí. Dochází také k hlubší analýze samotného pojmu menšina. První část charakterizuje národnostní politiku obou zemí. Ve druhé části se věnuji právnímu uznání, charakteru státního režimu a míře participace menšin v politickém systému. Ve třetí části dochází k analyzování lingvistických a edukačních práv menšin. Závěrečná část se věnuje socioekonomické situaci menšin. V závěru práce dochází k sumarizaci současného postavení křesťanských menšin a porovnání tohoto postavení v obou zemích.

Abstract:

This thesis analyzes the status of Christian minorities in Western Asia. It is a comparative case study of the status of minorities in the two geopolitical powers in the region, Turkey and Iran. Main goal of this work is to find the factors that influence the position of Christian minorities, on the basis of which is then analyzed their situation. The work is divided into two main parts. Theoretical part analyzes the indicators that influence the position of Christian minorities in both countries. The empiric part is specific to the dismantling of these indicators in Turkey and Iran. Analyzed factors are divided into four parts. There is also a deeper analysis of the minority concept. The first part describes the state's minority policy in both countries. The second part is devoted to legal recognition, the nature of the state system and the degree of participation of minorities in the political system. The third part analyzes the linguistic and educational rights of minorities. The final section is devoted to the socio-economic situation of minorities. The conclusion is to summarize the current status of Christian minorities and compare this position in both countries.
