Breast feeding versus infant formulas

Abstract:

Práce prověřuje současný stav kojení versus jeho náhrad. Teoretická část práce popisuje historii a vývoj kojení a náhrad mateřského mléka (MM), složení a srovnání MM a jeho náhrad, výhody a kontraindikace kojení. Dále pojednává o zákonech a vyhláškách týkajících se náhrad MM. Praktická část byla věnována zjištění postojů odborníků a laické veřejnosti ke kojení a k jeho náhradám. Pro tento účel byla použita dotazníková metoda. Předmětem zkoumání bylo 24 praktických lékařů pro děti a dorost a 61 matek s jedním dítětem ve věku 6 měsíců až 6 let. Byli dotazováni za účelem zjištění: jak pediatři poskytuji laktační poradenství; důvody pro doporučení náhrad; kolik matek má problémy s kojením a jaké; kde hledají pomoc; informovanost matek o délce kojení. V závěru se shrnují hlavní poznatky a zdůrazňuje se význam kojení a laktačního poradenství.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis examines the present state of breast feeding versus infant formulas. Theoretical part of the thesis describes history and development of breast feeding and infant formula, composition and comparison of maternal milk and infant formulas, advantages and contraindication of breast feeding. Further it deals with law and regulations of infant formulas. Practical part of the thesis was conducted to investigate the attitudes of public and professionals toward breast feeding and infant formula. For this purpose, the survey questionnaire method was used. The subjects were 24 paediatricians and 61 mothers with one child between the ages of 6 months to 6 years. They were interviewed to determine: how paediatricians provide lactation counselling; reasons for recommendations of milk formulas; how many mothers have problems with breast feeding and which; where mothers find assistance; mothers knowing about lactation length. At the conclusions there are summarized main findings and importance of lactation counselling and breast feeding.
