Web-based interactive visualization of 3D objects and its use in the field of e-learning

Abstract:

Webové technologie a nástroje se spolu s výpočetním výkonem zařízení nacházejí ve stavu, který umožňuje zobrazit interaktivní 3D vizualizace skrze webové prohlížeče velkému množství uživatelů. Interaktivní 3D grafika tak nemusí být pouze výsadou desktopových aplikací, ale její použití se může orientovat i na webové prostředí. Tato práce se zabývá analýzou dostupných webových technologií a nástrojů právě pro interaktivní 3D grafiku na webu a popisuje jejich možnosti, aspekty použití a vlastnosti. Získané informace se následně staly základem pro volbu vhodné kombinace těchto technologií a nástrojů pro řešení konkrétní aplikace, čímž je autorem realizovaný prohlížeč 3D modelů a animací, které jsou vytvářeny v rámci Servisního střediska pro e-learning na MU. Autor v práci popisuje návrh dané webové aplikace a řešení hlavních implementačních problémů a uvádí informace k přípravě a použití 3D modelů a animací ve 3D prohlížeci. Práce je orientována zejména na využití v oblasti elektronické podpory výuky a proto autor také analyzuje a představuje příklady využití z této oblasti.

Abstract:

Web technologies and tools are together with computing performance of devices in a state where it is possible to make interactive 3D visualizations accessible by web browsers to a large number of web users. Thus, interactive 3D graphics do not have to be a privilege of desktop applications only, but it can be used in the web environment either. The thesis deals with analysis of web technologies and tools for using interactive 3D graphics on the web and describes their abilities, features and aspects of use. Information gained from the analysis became the solid foundation for the choice of a suitable combination of these technologies and tools for a realization of specific application. The application, developed by the author of the thesis, is a viewer of 3D models and animations, which are created by Servisní středisko pro e-learning na MU. The thesis describes the design of the web application and solution of main implementation problems and presents basic information necessary for preparation and use of 3D models and animations. The thesis focuses especially on the use in the field of e-learning and therefore the author as well analyses and introduces specific examples of the use of interactive 3D graphics in the mentioned field.
