Mezinárodní měnový fond byl založen jako instituce usilující zejména o stabilitu mezinárodního měnového systému. International monetary fund was established to be an institution aspiring to stabilize of international monetary system. This paper surveys journey leading to its foundation, it sums up knowledge about essential goals, membership of IMF and it describes Fund´s activities on the field of exchange rate politics.
