Abstract:
Tato práce zkoumá metafory v proslovech Winstona Churchilla z období Studené války a jejich vliv na přesvědčování. Toto bylo provedeno kombinací přístupů z korpusové lingvistiky, kognitivní lingvistiky a analýzy metafor za účelem jejich identifikace, objevení vzorců jejich použití a vysvětlení jejich vlivu na přesvědčování.
Abstract:
This thesis investigates metaphors in Winston Churchill’s Cold War speeches and their influence on persuasion. This was done by combining approaches from corpus linguistics, cognitive linguistics and critical metaphor analysis in order to identify them, find patterns of their usage and explain their influence on persuasion.
