Transnational corporations and their role in the world economy

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá transnacionálními korporacemi a rolí transnacionálních korporací ve světové ekonomice. Cílem diplomové práce je definovat transnacionální korporace a zhodnotit jejich vliv na světovou ekonomiku z pohledu přímých zahraničních investic. Úvodní kapitoly definují transnacionální korporace a světovou ekonomiku, krátce prezentují jejich vývoj, od prvopočátku až po dnešní den. Následně jsou zohledněny spojitosti dnešních globalizačních procesů a transnacionálních korporací, definované internacionalizační procesy a z toho vyplývající nutnost přímých zahraničních investic. Praktická část je zaměřená na vývoj přímých zahraničních investic ve světe a v České republice, které investovaly transnacionální korporace v letech 2015 až 2021. Dále jsou prezentované výhody spojené s internacionalizačními procesy transnacionálních korporací pro příjímací ekonomické prostředí, zejména z pohledu vlivu na zaměstnanost, tvorby nových pracovních míst a přenosu nových technologií. V této části budou vybrané firmy komparovány z hlediska jejich postavení v národní a světové ekonomice a za pomoci indukční analýzy bude zhodnoceno, jak transnacionální korporace podporují ekonomiku při tvorbě internalizačních procesů.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on transnational corporations and their role in the global economy. The aim of the thesis is to define transnational corporations and evaluate their impact on the global economy in terms of foreign direct investment. The introductory chapters define transnational corporations and the global economy, briefly presenting their evolution from inception to the present day. Subsequently, the connections between today's globalization processes and transnational corporations are considered, defined by internationalization processes and the resulting necessity of foreign direct investment. The practical part is focused on the development of foreign direct investment worldwide and in the Czech Republic, invested by transnational corporations between 2015 and 2021. Furthermore, the benefits associated with the internationalization processes of transnational corporations for recipient economic environments are presented, particularly in terms of their impact on employment, the creation of new jobs, and the transfer of new technologies. In this section, selected companies will be compared in terms of their position in the national and global economies, and through inductive analysis, it will be evaluated how transnational corporations support the economy in the creation of internationalization processes.
