Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá filozofiemi, které přispěly k utváření postkoloniální Indie před i po získání nezávislosti od Britského impéria. Po načrtnutí historického kontextu se práce zaměřuje na dva nejvlivnější přístupy reprezentované Mahátmem Gándhím a Džavahárlálem Néhrúem. Cílem této práce je analyzovat a porovnat tyto dvě vize a zjistit, do jaké míry Gándhího filozofie nenásilí a néhrúovský progresivismus ovlivnili vývoj Indie po nezávislosti.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with political philosophies that contributed to the formation of a postcolonial society in India before and after gaining independence from the British Empire. After a brief overview of the historical background, the author focuses on exploring the two most influential approaches represented by Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru and on examining their suggestions on how to deal with underdevelopment. The aim of this thesis is to analyse, compare and discuss these two approaches and to track the legacy of both Gandhian non-violence and Nehruvian progressivism in the Indian post-independence policies.
