Columbus's image of the New World in his letters

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá rozborem lodních deníků a dopisů Kryštofa Kolumba, které psal během svých objevných výprav a jež jsou obsažené v publikacích Textosy documentoscompletos(1989) a VidadelalmirantedonCristóbalColón(1947). Práce je rozdělena do čtyř částí. První část pojednává o období zámořských objevů a dopadu těchto objevů na společnost. Druhá se stručně zabývá životem autora a jeho nastoupením do služeb španělské koruny. Další část představuje samotnou analýzu jeho lodních deníků a dopisů. Je zaměřena především na obraz Nového světa a jeho proměny během čtyř cest, které Kryštof Kolumbus do Nového světa podnikl. Poslední část bakalářské práce poukazuje na největší rozdíly v popisech Nového světa a jeho obyvatel v dokumentech z první a poslední Kolumbovy výpravy.

Abstract:

The bachelor is thesis deals with the analysis of the logbooks and letters of Christopher Columbus, which he wrote during his expeditions and which are contained in the publications Textosydocumentoscompletos(1989) and Vidadelalmirantedon CristóbalColón(1947). The thesis is divided into four parts. The first part contains the period of overseas discoveries and the impact of these discoveries on society. The second part briefly deals with the author?s life and his joining the service of the Spanish crown. The next part presents the analysis of his logbooks and letters. Is focuses mainly on the image of the New World and it?s transformation during the four journeys that Christopher Columbus made to the New World. The last part of the bachelor thesis deals with the changing ideas and variability of his descriptions in comparison with the first and last expedition.
