Elbow joint kinematics during Round-off with different hand positions in gymnastics

Abstract:

Cílem práce bylo zjistit, zda rozdílné postavení rukou při rondatu ovlivňuje kinematiku loketního kloubu v ženské sportovní gymnastice. Dvě vrcholové sportovní gymnastky byly účastnicemi této studie. Pro kinematickou analýzu bylo použito osm infračervených kamer. Gymnastky provedly 10 pokusů rondátu a přemetu vzad v paralelním postavení rukou a 10 pokusů rondátu a přemetu vzad v ?T? postavení rukou. Effect size byl použit pro určení rozdílů v průměrech. Rozdíly v kinematice loketního kloubu naznačují, že ?T? postavení rukou může chránit loketní kloub a snižovat riziko zranění loketního kloubu.

Abstract:

The aim of this study was to determine whether differences in hand position during the round-off may influence the elbow joint kinematics in female gymnastics. Two high level active female gymnasts were involved in this study. Eight infrared cameras were used for kinematic analysis. The gymnasts performed 10 trials of a round-off from a hurdle step to back handspring with a ?parallel? hand position and 10 trials with a ?T? shape hand position. Effect size statistics were used to establish differences in means. Differences in joint elbow kinematics indicated that the ?T? position may prevent elbow joint and reduces risk of elbow injuries.
